Windows Genuine Disadvantage

Windows XP validation

Windows Genuine Disadvantage [XP] - Thu, 22/09/2016 - 12:49pm

Hi, I recently restart my old computer with Windows XP, and now it asks me to revalidate windows. I followed these procedures https://support.microsoft.com/it-it/kb/938720 and now MGADIAG reportes that validation status is Genuine but when I restart the computerthe Activate Windows dialog box still appears (I have 2 more days to validate Windows XP).

Since I guess the two status are conflictual, I want to ask you, if I ignore the dialog box will I be able to use it after 2 days? You can find attached the copy of the MGADIAG.

Thank you in advice,

Simone

Error Code: 0xc0000034 in Windows xp Home SP1a

Windows Genuine Disadvantage [XP] - Tue, 13/09/2016 - 8:48pm

Using an HP Notebook 15 with Windows xp Home SP1a operating system. Received notification that another update was available. (I did not take note of the update specifics.) After update, I attempted a restart, and received "The Boot Configuration Data for your PC is missing or contains errors" message along with Error Code: 0xc0000034

Not being too smart about PC's, I have no idea what this means and even less idea about how to fix it. The laptop came with an "Operating System CD - MS Windows XP Home SP1a" - is it just a matter of inserting into the drive (and will I lose files?)?

If this isn't the proper resolution, what is?

p.s. Not sure if I picked right forum for this question, but it seems close...

Windows Not Genuine

Windows Genuine Disadvantage [Vista] - Mon, 12/09/2016 - 2:41am

I keep getting a validate Windows popup message and I am being told that my product key is Invalid and that i should try another one or purchase a new one. I also have the message permanently at the bottom right of my screen that says:

                          "Windows Vista (TM)

                                         Build 6002

This copy of Windows is not genuine"

But it IS a valid product key. It is on a sticker on the back of the pull out that the Installation discs are clipped to In my Windows Vista Ultimate edition which cost me $500. I am also experiencing the problem of my Browser settings Drop down menus not being the same as what is described. And keep being told that I am using Chrome when I am not (I am not sure if these issues are related or this is an entirely separate one) So here is a copy of the Diagnostic report as per request...

Oh and Microsoft told me to put the installation disk in and just re-enter my product code.  The PC was a gift from my sister in law and I do not have the original disk.  The sticker on the pc has the product code and a month ago I re-installed windows vista by downloading it off microsoft website with the same product key.  They suggested I contact gateway for a new disk, but my warrenty expired years ago.

Virus-damaged or missing files in WGA for XP

Windows Genuine Disadvantage [XP] - Fri, 09/09/2016 - 11:18am

I am getting ready to copy files and programs and transfer some to a newer Windows 10 computer. I have been having troubles for several years, especially with running out of hard drive space, but I could never identify any issues other than simple clean-ups and defrags, which did little to help speed and operation, nor alleviate crashes and such. I performed many re-installations of programs, browsers, etc., which only helped a short while. While running deep scans a Trojan appeared, was identified, quarantined or would be deleted. Repeatedly it would get reinstalled. I used many programs, online and local. One final scan, from which antivirus program I am now unsure, identified it within a cookie. It was suggested that it may have spread to other cookies, so deleting all cookies and allowing new re-installations should correct the problem, so I followed the procedure. It also suggested a clean-up after verifying removal, which I also performed. After doing this my hard drive free space increased from 7% to 36% (~476 MB to ~2.448 GB). In the process, I had to re-install McAffee AV. I also found I was no longer receiving any software updates (such as Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool), found that Windows Update and Microsoft Update will not open nor function locally (so I must run it from online), and this is due to a partially damaged or partially missing Windows Genuine Advantage installation (I have never had any problem with this, though have read about many problems and uninstallation procedures). From another thread here, I followed a link to a diagnostic for WGA. Here are the results, minus my Product Key.

After I remove the files I want, I plan to wipe many things from the hard drive and use this computer as a non-online gaming computer for the home. However, these missing or damaged files are causing glitches or temporary freezes, so I want to correct this before proceeding. I do not want to do a full re-installation of Windows XP and all programs and games, which would take so much time doing the years of updates to make it as current as possible, if I can get all of the updates anyway at this point. I cannot find online the Windows Genuine Advantage installation tool program to set up all files needed. I have checked but cannot find the downloaded file, if I can rerun it, and am not sure of its designation (example: KB 892130 ?), so I also ask for the correct program file and its designation. Can someone assist me and give me the file to run? Once I have properly re-installed Windows Genuine Advantage, will I need to re-install Windows Update and Microsoft Update as well, and if so, can I get those program files and designations as well? Yes,  I realize Windows XP is old, but this computer will not handle a newer Windows version, and I do want to use this. Thanks for any assistance anyone can offer. -Jeff S.

Since I upgrade my desktop from window 7 professional to SP1, unable to start Microsoft Office Outlook.

"Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file C:\Users\..............\Outlook.pst is not a personal folders file."

I did google search and followed few way to fix it but still give me the same message.

Please advise how to fix this problem.

Thank you.
