Whenever I start my computer explorer.exe crashes. This is true even in safe mode.  I was only able to get on the internet thru Windows Task Manager.

HI. I got that "Unauthorized change made to windows" message this morning (this seems to be a rather pervasive issue, if the posts I've seen here are any proof). I had last used the my PC on the 5th of July (It's been packed up since then), and it was working fine, with no evidence of any validation issues. I turned it on this morning, and encountered the aforementioned "bundle of joy". I realized relatively quickely it might be a registry issue, and restored it to a previous state. That didn't work, so I thought it might be something I installed. I most recently installed Unreal Tournament 3 (with the associated Dedicated Physics Software, can't remember the name)  Anyway, I uninstalled that (and later found similar advice regarding software that could take 3 or so days to trigger Windows Tampering Protocols) and restarted my PC. Unfortunately, it didn't work (though using the advice just mentioned, I did see UT3 was the last program installed that showed any issues on the other diagnostic tool). I figured it might be a more serious issue, and so performed a system restore. It also failed. I'm at a loss. Given the info below, can you possibly surmise what the issue is? I have the VIsta Ultimate box available, but I'd rather not have to re-install and lose a good chunk of my data. Any help you can give would be appreciated. Thanks!

I watch lots of Italian shows on:   www.raiclicktv.it, but I'm having a problem with 'buffering.' To see the specific programs go to 'raiclicktv.it,' then go to 'Fiction,' then go to 'Poliziesco' and find from the list of programs:  'IL COMMISSARIO MONTALBANO,' and watch any of the 14 episodes (By the way, the programs are all in Italian language and no sub-titles).

 

I want to know why I can see the programs, however, it keeps on buffering, (annoying as ***),.  What can I do.  I have 'adobe flash 9.'

I CAN GET INTO MY E-MAIL, BUT CAN'T OPEN ATTACHMENT OR GO TO OTHER WEBSITES.

I have windows vista. My programs don't work because I never put in the product key code and didn't know the that I was on a trial use. I'm now trying to enter to product code that is registered on my laptop (underneath) and it is saying invalid. What do I do. I'm at school in another country and need access to my microsoft programs.

I got this ibm t61p last March, and windows vista home premium was already installed.

it was working fine by yesterday, and problem was started from yesterday.

when i tried to start my computer, it says that copy of windows is not valid.

I dont know why this is popup all of sudden while i'm using this computer more than 3 month.

i want to active my xp prodec key but i can't the format my machin because i haven't some software packagin

my brother in law gave me this computer after he blew the hard drive. I called and bought the recovery disks from hp. Everything is fine but when i tried to open microsoft word it's asking for the product key and I don't have that. What do i do?

The above solution worked for me:

 

1. Restarted in safe mode->renamed SoftwareDistribution and Catroot2

2. Restarted in normal Mode-->click start, then run, then type in "regsvr32 -u %windir%\system32\legitcheckcontrol.dll"

3. Deleted the following files-->c:\windows\system32 directory and delete "legitcheckcontrol.dll".

4. Manually reinstall the latest version of WGA at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=69498
